Honda Civic Hauls in Another Award

The Honda Civic claimed the 2019 KBB Best Buy Award for the compact car segment.¹ This is the fifth consecutive year the award has gone to the Honda Civic, an eye-opening run due largely to the safety, performance, and styling of the model.

The compact car segment as a whole is filled with elite choices, making it all the more difficult to distinguish yourself from the crowd. However, that hasn't stopped the Honda Civic from placing a proverbial vice grip on the highly regarded award.

Making a Statement with Performance

Performance is a key part of what makes the Honda Civic such a revered option for daily commuters, first-time motorists, road-trippers, and anyone else.

The engine options are favorable, providing plenty of power and smooth driving dynamics. The first is a 2.0L 4-cylinder that generates 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. If you're hoping to hit 60 MPH a little quicker, the 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine provides 174 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque.

Other performance features certainly helped sway voters involved in the award selection process. For example, there's the Eco Assist™ System, Hill Start Assist, and an available Remote Engine Start system.

Each transmission option is also highly refined, with choices ranging between the 6-speed manual transmission and the continuously variable M-CVT or continuously variable LL-CVT. Finally, to provide support on twisting or pothole-marked roads, there's the pairing of a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension.
