Performance Specifications: Honda Accord vs Toyota Corolla

Both cars display impressive performance yet the Toyota Corolla sports two separate engine options while the Honda Accord sports three.

For example, the first engine offered by the Honda Accord is a 1.5L 4-cylinder with the ability to generate 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the 2.0L 4-cylinder that boasts 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, there's the hybrid in-line 4-cylinder engine with the ability to churn out 143 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque.

The available transmissions are equally diverse. Depending on the engine and trim level you select, you'll either be riding with a 6-speed manual transmission, a continuously variable transmission with sport mode, a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, or an electronic continuously variable transmission with sport mode and deceleration selectors.

Your options are much more limited with the Toyota Corolla. The engine choices are either a 1.8L 4-cylinder with 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque, or a 1.8L 4-cylinder with 140 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque.

As for the transmission, your only two options are a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission with intelligence and sport mode.

Infotainment Technology

When you look at the layout of infotainment technology found in the Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla, you see why each car receives such high praise.

For starters, the Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration systems found in the Honda Accord make it easy to link your smartphone with the car. Once this is done, you can access various apps, navigation, and music from your touchscreen device.

The Toyota Corolla has a similar integration software, yet the interface is often cited as being less user-friendly than alternative options, such as the Honda Accord.
